last week, doc watson died and for anyone who loves music, his passing is a tremendous loss. a wonderful and touching tribute, written by matt cartsonis for ‘turnstyled, junkpiled‘ to a great folk guitarist.
each generation and time lives with considerations different from those of our parents. my generation (the 40-somethings) are the straddlers: we have a foot in a world of pre-internet days and garbage pails that mixed everything up, and the other foot resting in a world of eco-overconscious (we have to make up for lost time since we helped create the landfills) and obsessive emails and posting. my daughter just asked me the other day if i ever “dated online”…it took me a moment to respond as i realized that concept didn’t even exist when i was dating!
finding ways to balance our needs, wants and interests with concern for the greater good and the future of the planet isn’t always the first response. it is a concerted effort and i appreciate new ideas and suggestions for finding that balance. love this post for just that reason.
